Fox and the Midnight Closet
Fox clicked off his lamp. His tools sat quiet on the desk. Bedtime, at last.
· 1 ·
But something in the closet went CLUNK. Then CLANG. Then a tiny, polite cough.
· 2 ·
A knight stepped out, helmet crooked. "Pardon me," he said. "Wrong century."
· 3 ·
Fox sat up fast. "Hey! Where did you come from?" The knight just shrugged and vanished.
· 4 ·
Next came a pirate, dripping seawater. Then a girl in a snowy fur coat. Then a robot.
· 5 ·
Fox grabbed his notebook. Inventors needed answers. Something inside that closet was very, very strange.
· 6 ·
He tiptoed close. The closet door hummed. A soft blue light glowed under it.
· 7 ·
"Don't go in," whispered a small voice. A tiny astronaut peeked out. "It's wild in there."
· 8 ·
Fox grinned. Wild was his favorite word. He grabbed his flashlight and his bravest socks.
· 9 ·
"I have to know the truth," Fox said. "Inventors don't sleep through mysteries."
· 10 ·
He pulled the closet door open wide. Wind rushed out, smelling like jungles and stars.
Inside swirled a tunnel of clocks, sand, snow, and spinning galaxies. Doors floated everywhere.
· 11–12 ·
Fox stepped in. The tunnel grabbed him gently and pulled him forward like a river.
· 13 ·
Behind him, his bedroom door snapped shut. Click. No going back now.
· 14 ·
A door opened ahead. Fox tumbled out onto warm sand. Three giant pyramids stared down at him.
A shadow moved closer. "You're late, traveler," said a voice. Fox swallowed hard. To Be Continued...
· 15–16 ·
Fox just wants to sleep. But his closet has other plans. Knights, pirates, and strangers from long ago keep tumbling out — and tonight, Fox decides to find out why.
